Back in the Saddle Again

I don't know how many people even read this...and who cares:) The important thing is that I'm back. I had a little baby boy and with a tense pregnancy and a c-section, I am just now starting back up...(I am singing Back in the Saddle Again as I write this) I am sick of looking at the same entry from last June!!!! Holy Cow that was a long time ago... So here are a few pics of what held me up for so long. Hope you enjoy and I will post some new creations soon:)

Oleda's Beginnings

Dearest Friends, Family, and yarn enthusiasts,

Growing up, my amazing mother fostered an exciting environment for experimenting and creating. We watched her whip together Easter outfits, endless Christmas gifts, prom dresses, scarves, hats and gloves in just the colors we asked for, wash rags and curtains for the kitchen…it seemed there was no end to what she could do.

Now as a mom myself, I find myself itching to create the same environment in my home. I started with a simple beanie for my two year old daughter Ryan Olivia. As I presented her with the hat that had been started and ripped apart at least 10 times, her jaw dropped open in her oh-so dramatic way as she exclaimed, “Oh mommy, it fo fritty! Wow, I’m fo fritty!” And that was it…if she saw the slightly lopsided hat as “fo fritty”, I wanted to make more. And I did…

My mom has never stopped creating. Now that I am out of the house, I walk into her makeshift craft room and my jaw drops just the way my daughters did. She is amazing…her ideas, her precise needlework, the way she recreates the traditional.

We call ourselves My Oleda...as in Ryan "Oleda" as she likes to call herself. So please follow our blog as we start out on a new adventure: getting our goods into the hands of all. Please check out some of our new projects, all of which are for sale!
